Sean Burch is a filmmaker, explorer and conservationist holding 8 world records spanning 6 countries and 5 continents, winner of National Geographic Channel’s Ultimate Survival Alaska TV show, 1st Virginian to summit Mt. Everest, founder and principal of Khumbu Productions, and author of the acclaimed self-help book and program Hyperfitness®, Hyperfitness®: 12 Weeks to Conquering Your Inner Everest (Penguin Random House).
Sean is the founder of the 1st functional fitness program to ever receive national attention with a cover and feature (USA Today front-page feature, 19Dec 2002, 'Go Hard or Go Home'). He has over 130 first ascents of previously unclimbed mountain peaks, of which 117 were accomplished solo. For over 25 years Sean has been a master fitness instructor for Olympic and professional athletes, celebrities, and working professionals, and a personal development and leadership specialist for Fortune 500 companies and institutions around the world.
Sean was named Goodwill Ambassador to Nepal by their Government for his humanitarian work in their country, and awarded Brand Personality of the Year by the Asia Pacific Foundation. His documentarian and photography work has been featured in news organizations including: BBC, AP, Reuters, CNN, CNNi, USA Today, ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX world news outlets.
Sean has generated over $1 million dollars for third-world countries and collaborated with non-profit organizations including The World Wildlife Fund, Nepal Trust, Love Hope Strength Foundation, ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation, Fujisan Club of Japan, Children’s Welfare Institutes (CWI) & orphanages in Tibet, and the Himalayan Rescue Association.
Sean is a blackbelt in American Shotokan Karate, a certified instructor in Jeet Kune Do and Filipino Martial Arts, and an Explorer's Club member.
