As a Man Thinketh, James Allen

Originally published in 1903, a classic on the power of thought. An encapsulation of his distinct philosophy of self-help, ethical living, and mind-power metaphysics. It’s simple but complicated. Good thoughts and actions can never produce bad results; bad thoughts and actions can never produce good results. Enjoyed the section on effects of thought on health and body. Essentially the body is the servant of the mind. Agreed, but physical and nutrition are as important. All that a person achieves and all that he/she fails to achieve is the direct result of their own thoughts. Calmness of the mind is one of the jewels of wisdom. He details his “Eight Pillars of Prosperity”. Here they are: 1. Energy –strenuous and unremitting exertion in accomplishment of one’s task 2. Economy- concentration of power 3. Integrity- unswerving honesty 4. System- have an order to all your details 5. Sympathy- generosity, tenderness, be kind 6. Sincerity- begin whole and true 7. Impartiality- justice 8. Self-reliance- looking to oneself only for strength and support by standing on principles which are fixed. Don’t rely on outward things which at any moment may be snatched away

Good points to them all.
